Welcome ...

This is the first of what will be a weekly blog.  I am wanting to include information about new items coming into the store or focus on existing products.  I also want to include a helpful tip on something crafty and something cooking that I have found works well!

I am by no means Martha Stewart - and am always on the lookout for something quick and effective.  I would also love to get your feedback and any suggestions.

So here we go ....

Lauren Hinkley is the first range of jewellery I have brought into Willow.

Lauren Hinkley Australia started from humble beginnings. A graphic designer with a family retail background. Lauren began designing and selling stationery in her parents store in Noosa Heads while she was at school. The business has grown over the past decade and they now make over 500 items. They have an emphasis on Australian made, quality products and they make all the stationery and jewellery in Australia. The range includes affordable Australian made newborn gifts, children's jewellery and simple yet elegant stationery for all occasions.

This jewellery is truly beautiful and excellent quality - you really wont be disappointed!

The Cooking Section ...

Even though my little man never seems to get bored with his Kindy lunch - I do!  I am always looking out for something different to put in his lunch box.  On a recent day in Christchurch I found a great Chicago Metallic 24 Mini Muffin Tray - that was my answer!  Quick to bake and can freeze the extras.

Mini Cheese Muffins

1 cup plain flour, 3 tsp baking powder, 2 cups grated cheese, 1 egg, 1/2 cup milk, Salt & Pepper

Turn the oven to 200 degrees and prepare your muffin tins.  Sift the flour, baking powder salt and pepper.  Whisk the egg until frothy and add the milk, add the grated cheese (I combined tasty and parmesan)  Mix through until combined and spoon into muffin tray.  Bake for 10 minutes and enjoy!

So basic and so tasty

The Crafty Section ...

I have been delighted to find that boys are just as interested in doing crafts as girls .. maybe just for a shorter attention span

We love making rainbow rice - it is quick and there are so many things you can do with it.

The concoction I like the best is:

Rainbow Rice Recipe

1 cup rice, 1 tbsp white vinegar, few drops of food colouring

Mix all ingredients in a zip lock bag, transfer to a baking tray or piece of newspaper and leave to dry for at least two hours.  If you find the smell of vinegar offensive, add a couple of drops of your favourite essential oil.

Thank you for reading and see you next week.
